More new yarns...

Two new yarns by Wendy arrived this week at Sharp Works:

Aspire, a wool/alpaca mix which knits on a 6.5mm needle & Ramsdale, a double knitting weight 100% British wool yarn.

We have a range of pattern designs available for both yarns.

New Rowan Collection

The latest magazine from Rowan (magazine 56) arrived this week, as well as some of their autumn/winter 2014 yarns.  The new yarns include:

Rowan Finest, a cashmere/alpaca mix 4ply

Fazed Tweed, a wool/alpaca mix yarn which knits on a 6mm needle

Brushed Fleece also knits on a 6mm needle, and is a mix of merino wool and baby alpaca. 

Chenille is 100% cotton yarn which should be knitted on 3.75mm needles. 

Big Wool Colour is a wool/polyamide superchunky yarn.

Fur is a textured wool yarn in neutral tones which should be knitted on 7mm needles.

More Rowan books will be arriving over the next few weeks.

Crochet Flower Workshop

We have a couple of spaces left on our new Crochet Flower Workshop which takes place on Saturday 12th July from 2-3.30pm.  

Join us for this class where you will learn various techniques to make crocheted flowers.  All materials will be provided.  This is an intermediate level class, the crochet skills required are chain, double and treble crochet.

This workshop will cover various colour knitting techniques including intarsia, slip stitch & double knitting.  Please note this class does not cover Fair Isle knitting.

Rowan Pure Wool Worsted

New colours of the Rowan Pure Wool Worsted arrived this week.  We've knitted up some of the squares from the Rowan Mystery Afghan blanket project.  The pattern is available from the Rowan website http://www.knitrowan.com

New arrivals at Sharp Works

Honey, the latest book from Kim Hargreaves

Artesano Alpaca Silk 4ply, a mix of 70% alpaca and 30% Mulberry silk.

This beautifully soft, 4ply yarn comes in 50gram/200m hanks, in a range of colours.  

We have five new shades of the popular Knit Col yarn by Adriafil now available, perfect for projects such as this cardigan.

Knitting in the Round class

We have a couple of spaces available on our Knitting in the Round class which starts this Wednesday 4th June, continuing on the 11th June, from 6.30-8pm.  

This is a two week introduction to knitting in the round.  You will learn how to use double pointed needles and start making either a hat or a pair of wristwarmers.

This is an intermediate level class, knitting skills are required; knit, purl & rib.
